Wish I had seen this earlier.... I took the black ones off mine the other day with a stanley knive.....

Stupidly I thought that it would be so difficult I would be wasting time even trying anything else..
wheres the "slap" emoticon when ya need it

i just soak one end of it in boilng hot water and some fairy liquid leave for 20 mins and twist and twist with a dry cloth or rag * dont use yer mums or missus dish cloth they'll kill ya*

mine comes off with a bit of physical twisting and pullin

this is what i've always done (not necessarily 20 mins but about 5-10 mins as the hot water 'expands' the rubber and allows for easy extraction

would the hot water damage/remove any of the white lettering on a set of tange grips though?

smiggy- 03-09-2009

I did mine that way mate, and it didn't affect the white lettering..

grips
I was told to try HAIRSPRAY, between the grips/bars,which are gently leavered by a flat s/driver-and it works a treat .

bunch of flipping puffs on here.

i have been removing grips for years,i was doing it in the 80's and still to this day do i use the same method.

spit down the edge of the grip, then grab hold and twist until it starts to move. its like a chinese arm burn but its never failed me yet.

hairspray is for fitting not removing!

I take the bars off before i remove grips.I hold them under the HOT running tap and this 'expands' the rubber all you do is twist the the grip off.

It takes a little time but they do pop off

Same here and if you put a bit of washing up liquid down they come off even quicker.
