Hello, new Night Burner owner
Hello, in a fit of madness at the weekend I bought a Night Burner off a stall selling old bikes for not much. Always wanted one as a kid although there was nothing wrong with the Team Giant BMX my folks bought me for Xmas I really wanted the Night Burner. So now I've got one, the coating on the forks isn't good, the anodising is worn off the rims where the brake pads run and the rear hub needs an overhaul but the crank, head stock and front wheel bearings seem pretty good, both wheels are straight and the brake calipers and levers etc are all pretty good anodising still :). Aside from that I need a pad set and some handlebar grips, I think the rest of the cosmetics should be easy to tidy up. Were the Night Burners fairly limited in number? Seems there's plenty of all the toher kinds of Burner I remember from back in the day about but very few of this one??? Cheers, Dave

Nice bike, looks near enough complete. Depenidin on how much you want to spend, you have a solid base for a beutiful resto. Looks like the superchrome needs redoing. But the rest should polish up nice. Welcome, please hang around. ;)

Thanks :) Been reading about and looks like getting the superchrome is like finding hen's teeth as are most of the bits I need :( I'm not after making a mint bike, I bought it to use on weekends away. I have a couple of VW campers and its stows in the back of either those nicely without having to take the front wheel off or anything. VW shows can be pretty big and a BMX, Chopper or a lowrider cruiser are a must at many of them  That said I do want it to be nice, but not so nice I'ma fraid to use it :)

FHMREADER on here does superchrome, I think its about 60-70 posted back to you. But as you say, if its just to ride round at shows that may be a bit much. But it will look nice. ;) What bits do you need?

hey you welcome to the forum! 8) lovely bike you have there what i would do is do it up nicely and ride it HARDCORE way! thats how our burners should be use 8)

OK shopping list thus far is: All three of the red pads - I read there are repro sets around are they any good?? Handle bar grips Seat post clamp and seat post (would it be sacriledge to stick a skyway layback seat post on it?) Pedals, new set of cables and a sticker set after the superchrome . I'm a bit confused :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: Been looking on the Dan's Burner Resource website and the two MK1 examples pictured in the gallery both have red anodised pedals and skyway mags anda rectangular reflector on the back, but the featured MK2 on burnerworld (which is gorgeous whoever you are 'stuey') has black pedals and red anodised rims and a round reflector like mine. So I was starting to think I had a frankenstein bitsa bike... Then I looked at the brochure pictures and the one shown in there seems to be specced like mine... so where's it at? is mine "right" ?? Oh I'm in Essex by the way, if anyone can point me in the direction of someone nearbyish that can refurb the wheels that would be fantastic :) Modfather -> I know its off topic but I like showing it off... here's what it will get carted about in and yes it does get ragged about HARDCORE even after the resto because equally, that's now VWs should be used too 8)

Esemdesign does the repro pads. Spot on. Theres is a approved parts supplier sticky somewhere, and i think a link on the homepage. Skyway layback I don't think will fit, and it would be sacrilidge. Grips you need will probably be fuan they come up on the bay, but i don't recall seeing black/red for a while. :? What do you need doing to the wheels?

Technohippy- 09-16-2008

The wheels have the usual scabby look as the anodising has all worn off where the brakes run, I'm guessing I need to take the spokes out and get the rims to an anodisers somewhere ?? Or can this be done without taking the wheel apart? I've never needed to get things anodised before so I haven't a clue?

welcome in .. and ive got a brand new set of grips for a nightburner.. which im parting with. PM me if interested.

leemadz- 09-16-2008

if its just the brake edge i would leave them if you are going to ride it. And i would pm cyborg real quick about those grips.

cyborgtr808- 09-16-2008

i agree with Lee if riding it.. just give the wheels a good clean .. then polish up the brake edge with wet and dry and some autosol.. make it shiny.. and ride away.. ive also got a padset for this bike in used condition.. so if its just a rider they might suffice for you .. else the repro' ones Esemdesign does are wicked!

Technohippy- 09-16-2008

Just tooka closer gander at the wheels and yes I think you're right it will suffice that way, also interested in the pad set if you've got pics? PM sent :)
