A Friend Says It's An Early Mid-Life Crisis...
...amused by the fact i've bought an 'old BMX' i've been tarred with the brush referenced in the thread title. My name is Carl, i live in Aberdeenshire, i work offshore and on the 6th of September i bought (read won) my first BMX. Being born in 1981 i sort of missed the BMX wave, the only significant bike i can remember owning from my childhood (prior to the rise of the MTB) was a Raleigh Wild Cat, complete with sound effects lol. Hence i think owning a BMX is more of a subliminal scratch that needs itching rather than full-on mid-life crisis. I thought i'd build a custom Burner during my field break as a cheap way of keeping me amused for a couple of days... save me spending money on my beloved Subaru! However, having just totted up what i'd like to spend on said BMX it may have been cheaper to carry on throwing money at the Scoob. Anyway, that's just about enough from me. I've been lurking for the past few weeks and have bought Beard's brochure disc. I took my Burner to pieces today ready for the project to start for real so i'll go post some pictures. :)

Welcome mate. Get those pics up so we can see what you're building. Stella Dave is from Aberdeen, but living in Glasgow now. There's a few 'Jocks' if you'll pardon the expression on the forum. Good luck and again welcome.

Git 'er dun. ;) Welcome to the old skool. Subarus are cool. But burners are cooler. Check out the recent London ride pics and videos. 8)

I have to say Carl buying that and watching for a week or two is a great way to start. 8)

Lol, thanks for the warm welcome guys. Pics of the bike are now up here. Realised i need to pay my membership before i can get the pads/stickers so that's been taken care of now too. It's already starting to feel like a slippery slope.
